FAQ What does a Contender ticket include & how does it work?


  • One ticket -1 day access to the festival (Friday, saturday or Sunday). Depending on what ticket/ you have purchased, determines what activity you have access to.
  • Classes – Book up to 3 classes per day if time allows, in advance before Contender Fest begins.
    All classes and activities do need to be booked but there will be a standby list that you can join and five minutes before class starts, if there is a no-show, the standby list will be used, this is on a first come first serve basis.
  • A Bronze ticket (Standard ticket gives you entrance to the Event, and you can stay for the after party, this ticket is good for spectators.
  • A Silver ticket (Midway ticket gives you festival entry, choose up to three taster classes,such as, Zumba, Yoga.and the after party.
  • A Gold ticket (all access ticket) gives you, festival entry,  and all the, Contender Games, races & events, the purpose-built obstacle course and after party.

Food & Drink Policy

You will be asked to leave excess quantities outside the Event. Contender Fest would prefer you not to bring in glass bottles of any kind. (discretion will be used, child’s medicine)

No food or drink can be taken into the main Event site, apart from water sealed bottles up to 750ml

No glass is allowed on the main site.

Please Contender! Decant what you need to take into plastic or Metal containers before you leave home, Thank you.

What times do the gates open & close?

The gates open at 15.00 on Friday with the obstacle course opening from 16.00, DJ starting late evening, with the Big 5 and classes start on Saturday from 9am and the event ends Sunday evening at 17.00 (5pm) . You can come in and out as you please within the day ticket you’ve purchased but make sure you keep your wristband on when leaving and entering.

ID & alcohol

Valid photographic ID is required upon entry to verify your ticket and age. Suitable forms of valid photographic ID include your passport, driver’s licence and any other photographic ID that carries the PASS logo. Photocopies will not be accepted.

For those lucky to look younger than 25, in accordance with our Challenge 25 policy, bar staff will also be required to check ID at point of sale, Contender please take this as a compliment as there are those of us who miss being asked.

I lost my tickets, what do I do?

Unfortunately, tickets cannot be replaced under any circumstances.

But if you purchased your ticket on line, as long as you can access your emails you’ll be okay.

Where Can I Charge My Phone?

There will be power points to charge your phone in the main event site by the bar/stage. Please bring your own cables and please note we cannot accept liability for the loss of the phone.

Are there toilets?

Yes, there are plenty of toilets on site for you to use.

Is there cash on site?

Please bring all necessary cash with you, however because of Covid-19 most vendors/traders will have card machines to make purchases.

Is there parking?

Yes, car spaces are limited, so if you could buddy up and keep the environmental impact to a minimum, and then we can let more Contenders in.

I think I booked tickets from a fake website, what should I do?

(there are no third parties that have our permission to sell, tickets)

We can only advise that you contact your credit card company.

Is there disabled access?

Contender Yes, there will be a priority parking area, and disabled toilets. The terrain can be a little rugged and uneven as it’s an outdoor event. We are keen to make the event accessible to everyone so if you have any requirements or needs before the event starts please contact us via email.

Will there be medical assistance?

There is a treatment tent on site. If you see anyone who requires medical assistance, please inform a steward or member of security immediately.

Can I get a refund on my ticket?

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide refunds for Contender Fest tickets. Feel free to transfer your ticket to a friend.

Can I leave the site and return?

Yes, please ensure you have your wristbands and ID on you when leaving and entering the site.

What should I bring/not bring to Contender Fest?

Contender you are ready! – But because of the nature of our British weather, we say you should bring suitable attire and be prepared for changeable conditions.

You may be searched on entry to the event site. Any items that may be used in an illegal or offensive manner will be confiscated. No responsibility is given for the return of confiscated items. If you are in possession of illegal substances the Police will be alerted and you may be arrested.

Can I bring children to Contender Fest?

Contender Fest is open to all ages, but children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

How can I get to Contender Fest?

By car, bus and beryl, but please do not attempt to walk to the event site, as there are many areas along the way that do not have foot path access.

We are pleased to be supporting Dorset’s newest festival, Contenderfest. Easily accessible via existing cycle routes, you can conveniently cycle to the event site and take advantage of onsite cycle parking! Even better, receive a free 30 min ride if you use Beryl to cycle to the event, and end your journey in the temporary bay onsite.

Each person who cycles can make a voluntary parking donation with all proceeds going to Dorset Mind. Beryl will also give £1 for every Beryl journey taken. 

Cycle route suggestions: The site can be easily accessed via existing cycle routes. If coming from Poole, you can cycle along the Parley route, from Christchurch via Fairmile and from Bournemouth via Throop. To view all cycle routes in BCP click here

Can I leave to get cash?

Yes, you can please keep your passes and ID with you when leaving and entering the site.

Can I bring a disposable stove or disposable BBQ?

No sorry, as it is a food festival, Contender we have food covered, and all will be at affordable prices, so no gas bottles, camp stoves are allowed no Fires and no disposable BBQs

Choose from 140 Hotels in Bournemouths Just two miles from the centre, the suburb of Boscombe and is a good choice if you’re pondering on where to stay in thats close. 


Bournemouth, has some of the best hotels in the south, and the are a good number of B&B’s.
